The Angela Fox Nature Garden (Opening Soon, date TBC)
In 2020, the Fox family agreed with Cuckfield Parish Council, to leasehold a green space next to The Queens Hall that had been unused for many years. It was agreed with the Fox family to build a memorial garden in memory of their late mother who had been a resident of Cuckfield for most of her life.
In spring 2021 extensive clearance work of the site started. The garden had to be cleared of rubble, old greenhouses, general rubbish and diseased trees had to be removed. The site was then levelled and pathways installed. The hedge separating the Queen’s Hall garden from the nature garden was removed, and mature bedding plants installed.
This is an ongoing project that will take many years to mature.
Now nestled in the grounds of The Queen's Hall you can come and explore the beautiful garden — a hidden gem. Open to all, Monday to Friday, 10am–3pm.
Whether you wish to enjoy your lunch, bring a cup of tea, or simply take a moment to relax, the Angela Fox Nature Garden offers a peaceful retreat.
We’re looking forward to your visit.

The History
The Fox family have long been admired and revered for their theatrical work, but they were also long standing members of the Cuckfield Community. Angela Fox, mother to Edward, James and Robert, was also an actress, and had lived in the same house in the village for over fifty years before she died.
The Sculpture was designed and made by Janet Mary Robinson who is a painter, illustrator and sculptor and whose work is inspired by her passion for wildlife and wild places. https://jmr.org.uk/
Welcome to the Garden
The Angela Fox Nature Garden is a beautiful new public space in the heart of Cuckfield, created as a welcoming social hub that promotes biodiversity and raises environmental awareness within the local community.
More than just a garden, it is a fully inclusive and accessible venue for everyone to enjoy. Thoughtfully designed with level pathways and step-free access throughout, the garden ensures that visitors with disabilities can comfortably explore every area. It also enhances outdoor facilities for existing village hall users and provides a scenic setting for outdoor performances and community events. The garden is fully licensed for civil weddings, offering a unique and tranquil venue for ceremonies.
The space is divided into distinct areas:
-
The Raised Bed Garden features the elegant Weeping Willow Fountain at its centre, surrounded by a vibrant and diverse selection of shrubs and flowers.
-
A spacious lawn, bordered by flower beds and is fully navigable via accessible paths. Various benches are thoughtfully placed throughout, offering peaceful spots to sit and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
-
The Wooded Pavilion, a secluded and charming spot perfect for wedding ceremonies.
While the garden is still in its early stages of planting, we are excited to see it develop and thrive in the coming years.
Weeping Willow fountain
This stunning and original Weeping Willow fountain is a beautifully hand-crafted, relaxing water feature with a mass of finely cut leaves, designed and sculpted here in the UK by a highly skilled metallurgist and artist. Each individual hand-crafted leaf springs drops of water creating the relaxing, soothing sounds of a light summer rain.
