Cuckfield Parish Council
Neighbourhood Plan 2011: Residents’ Consultation
Welcome and introduction
Dear Resident,
The Cuckfield Neighborhood Plan (CNP) is an opportunity for Cuckfield residents to influence how Cuckfield develops over the next twenty years and is part of the coalition government’s Localism Bill.
Cuckfield was recently nominated as part of a government Frontrunner Programme to help with the development of such a plan. Subsequently a Parish Council Working Group has been formed of seven volunteers to start developing the Cuckfield Neighbourhood Plan; the group is made up of four parish councillors and three residents. The open day and questions below are the group’s initial efforts to generate ideas and themes that can then be used to build and develop a draft plan ready for submission to Mid Sussex District Council in early 2012.
A final plan will go to a referendum for Cuckfield residents to vote on (sometime during late 2012), therefore it is vital that you make your views and comments known so that we can properly represent local opinion. It is important to note that our CNP must conform with policies within the overall District Plan. However as long as we satisfy that requirement, once it has been passed by you in the referendum, Mid Sussex District Council are obliged to adopt our Neighbourhood Plan as part of the statutory planning framework.
Please note: the CNP plan is for Cuckfield Urban, separate plans will be needed for Ansty and Staplefield (Cuckfield Rural) and Haywards Heath.
What we aim to achieve
The results of this work should result in a robust neighbourhood plan which will be considered as a material consideration in any future decisions involving Cuckfield planning applications, infrastructure and economic /housing developments.
Expectations
It is important to understand the parish does not wish to raise expectations, but the views and statements in this questionnaire will enable us to develop our themes further. The questions below therefore do not represent a commitment or priority for the future, but are to inform what shape the plan will take.
